Homework will begin on September 14th. The work is reinforcement activities that should be able to be completed by the student with little or no assistance. Work should be completed neatly with a pencil only and should be completed throughout the week. Resist the urge to do the work for your child or wait until Thursday night to finish. This becomes a bad habit that may continue in later grades. This homework is intended to build the lifelong skill of completing the assignments at home and returning them back to school on time. Work will arrive in a green folder and should be completed and returned by the following Friday. If a student has not completed their homework, they will not receive Friday Freetime.
We will start with high frequency word review (cards that tear apart)and will introduce spelling words (in the form of a list) later this fall. High Frequency Words are words that should be read instantaneously without sounding them out. Save the words from each week at home in a small file box or ziploc bag and continue to practice and review throughout the year.
